Aneesa Michelle's Group, Inc. was formed becaused after Aneesa's death the family was trying to figure out what we could do to bring education to the schools and homes because no one should have endure the pain and suffering from a murder that was so senseless and could have been prevented had there been more education and awareness.
There were so many signs that this was an abusive relationship; the excessive calling and text messaging, the change in Aneesa's behavior, depression etc. but we didn't know what to do or where to go for help. These were all signs that something was wrong but I had no idea how serious it was until the detectives told me that Aneesa's murder was being treated as a Domestic Violence case. I couldn't believe it because I thought this kind of stuff happens to only older married people with kids. I told the detectives "how could this be she's only 17 years old" and that's when they explained that Domestic Violence is any violence that occurs within an intimate relationship. That's when I realized that awareness needs to be made because if I thought that then maybe alot of other people do too. This is why I started to advocate for Teenage Dating Abuse and Violence so others will know that teenagers also go through Domestic Violence otherwise known as Teen Dating Violence & Abuse (TDVA). There is help out there so you are not alone.
Awareness needs to be made nationally. There are too many young girls who are being abused and murdered and it needs to stop. Please educate yourselves and your children and make use of all the information on this site and check out the links in the "Resource" tab section for more information.
