Getting Out of the Relationship

If you are planning on leaving and you finally realize that this is not a way to live your life then congratulations.  This is big because sometimes it takes for you to realize it on your own for you to change then to have 10 people tell you.  When in an abusive relationship you need to plan.  Sometimes it’s not that easy just to get up and walk away.

Talk with someone you trust about what your going thru.  Talk about it because if you keep everything bottled up inside, you make it harder on yourself mentally. Ask for help on getting out of your relationship.  Know what your rights are legally about filing for a restrain orderand what kind of charges you can have your abuser charged with.

When the abuse occurs again get the courage and pick up the phone and call for police.  If you fear for your life and if he knows that you called the police then establish a code word with someone and call them so they can call 911 for you.

Call your local Woman's Domestic Violence Shelter.  They have safe houses where they can place you until you move away.
